violin by Steffen Nowak Bristol and bow by Louis Otto in rectangular violin case

Stolen: 27 Nov 2017 - Durban

This instrument was collected in Durban as part of a consignment of two parcels with UPS tracking no Y 003 220 266 1 to be delivered in Heidelberg Germany. To date both instruments remain missing. Video images released by South African Airways at King Shaka International airport show the items in transit but as of OR Tambo International airport in Johannesburg all trace of the parcels seems to have vanished.
Description of Instrument:
violin labelled Steffen Nowak fecit Bristol 1988, has a two-piece maple back with flames ascending slightly from treble to bass side and a shiny quick-drying brown varnish, certificate photos show earlier varnish.
