Announcing the 2020 Conducting Fellowship with Maestro Dwight Oltman from June-9-13, 2020. All Conducting Fellows may compete in the SMICI Conducting Competition and will end the Institute in a public concert with the SMICI chamber orchestra- an orchestra comprised fully of musicians from professional American orchestras. We also have openings for Associate Conductors and Auditors. ALL CATEGORIES WILL HAVE PODIUM TIME!
The Smoky Mountain International Conducting Institute offers conductors the opportunity to study with one of America's most versatile conductors. Dwight Oltman has 44 years of experience teaching aspiring conductors at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music in Cleveland and has taught conducting workshops throughout the United States. His pedagogy is based on his work with two of the greatest conductors of the twentieth century--Pierre Monteux and Max Rudolf-- as well as the incredible wealth of knowledge and experience that he obtained over his 50+ year career.
