The Seattle Symphony announces the seventh Seattle Symphony Celebrate Asia Composition Competition. The Competition seeks to promote and recognize emerging composers who are interested in Asian culture, music and traditions. The winning composer will receive a $1,000 award and an opportunity to visit Seattle for the premiere. The winning score will be premiered by the Seattle Symphony on March 26, 2017, in Benaroya Hall at the annual Celebrate Asia concert. Eligibility: Composers born after January 1, 1982. There is no entry fee. All entries must arrive no later than Monday, Oct. 17, 2016.

Composition competition with Orchestre national d’Île-de-France
Theme : to compose “The Migrant’s Tale” for orchestra. Diffusion Alla Breve on France Musique (Radio France). This 5th competition is opened to composers under 33 years old on January 1st 2017, from any country and enrolled in composition and/or orchestration training program in the European Union within the five last years. Applicants must write two movements, two minutes each, of a five movements The Migrant’s Tale for orchestra before August 22nd 2016. The work will be performed by the Orchestre national d’Ile-de-France and broadcast on radio as part as the show Alla Breve.

BRUNO MADERNA COMPETITION COMPOSERS & FORUM 2016
All composers who wish to participate into the International Composers’ Forum and Competition BRUNO MADERNA must write an original work with organic selected from two to five instruments: piano, two violins, viola, cello. The organization will select 12 composers who will have the opportunity to participate into the International Composers’ Forum and Competition BRUNO MADERNA from 27 to 30 July 2016 in the city of Lviv (Ukraine), inside the Lviv Philhamonia. The concerts will be recorded by a sound engineer with the selected works. A movie director will make a video of the concert.

"... a Camillo Togni" International Composition Competition
The composer must choose instruments from a specified list. No form of amplification is allowed. Length of the work: A) between 5 and 12 minutes long for pieces played by 3–11 players; B) between 3 and 7 minutes long for pieces played by 1–2 players. Basel Composition Competition
The first edition of the Basel Composition Competition, or BCC, shall take place from on 16 – 19 February 2017. Directed by the Head Juror Wolfgang Rihm, the international event was conceived by Christoph Müller and the Paul Sacher Foundation as a means to attract the most exciting composers of today to Basel and have their works premiered by Basel orchestras. The BCC is open to composers of all ages and nationalities and welcomes new, non-premiered orchestral works. Ten of which shall be shortlisted by jury. The three winning works shall receive prizes for a total of CHF 100,000.
