National Orchestral Institute + Festival Conducting Academy

20 - 26 Jun, 2021

The National Orchestral Institute + Festival, a program of the University of Maryland’s Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, is launching its inaugural NOI+F Conducting Academy in 2021 to provide training and mentorship for emerging conductors! Conducting fellows will work closely with NOI+F Music Director Marin Alsop in various settings including seminars, conducting labs, rehearsals and public performances–with piano and string quintet and with chamber orchestra. In addition, Fellows will have the opportunity to work alongside resident composition faculty members Gabriela Lena Frank and Brian Raphael Nabors and conducting faculty member James Ross. All participants will also attend multiple NOI Philharmonic rehearsals led by Maestra Alsop.

Limited spaces will be available for auditors as well, who are invited to attend all sessions, but do not receive podium time. Auditors will receive private consultations with James Ross to review conducting videos submitted in advance.
Closing date: 22 Feb 2021
