02 - 07 Aug, 2021
The Pacific Northwest Conducting Institute on beautiful Whidbey Island northwest of Seattle provides a unique opportunity and experience for music educators, student conductors, as well as seasoned professionals. The six day workshop, led by internationally acclaimed conductor and author, Diane Wittry and Music Director Anna Edwards of Saratoga Orchestra of Whidbey Island will feature generous amounts of podium time for Active Conductor participants, networking events, and special topic discussions geared toward the "business" of conducting. Housing is included in tuition and provided in guest homes for Active participants. Repertoire includes works by Antonin Dvořák, Grażyna Bacewicz, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Hanna Benn. Diane Wittry's book "Beyond the Baton" has become a standard text for the industry and "Baton Basics - Communicating Music through Gestures", is used at Universities for their conducting classes and for International Conducting Workshops.
