The Lowell Chamber Orchestra announces its second international concerto competition.

The competition is open to musicians of any nationality, born on or after September 1, 1990. Ensembles are strongly encouraged to apply.

AWARDS:
First Prize:
-An opportunity to perform as soloist(s) with the LCO
-Professional video recording of the performance with the orchestra
-A check for US$800

Second Prize
-Check for US$300

Third Prize
-Check for US$150

Deadline for video submission: Sunday, February 12, 2023, 11:59 GMT -5

Twelve finalists will be invited to participate in a live round on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

This competition appears to include an online round that charges over €35. musicalchairs is concerned that the fee for online judging must be commensurate with the value offered to applicants whether they are successful or unsuccessful. Please therefore study the guidelines for this competition carefully:

  • Is the Jury for the online round published and are they widely respected musicians?
  • Does each Jury member listen to all submissions in full?
  • Do applicants receive detailed and considered feedback about their complete performance/score from each Jury member?
