The foundation of the Gran Teatre del Liceu has re-elected Salvador Alemany as its president for five more years.

Following his reelection, Alemany thanked all the institutions for the confidence he has been given and noted that he will work for culture and for the country so that the Liceu will continue to better itself in the artistic and social aspects.

Alemany was named president in 2016 and has worked on creating consensus within his administration. He has been an advocate for working together with the institutions. During his term, he has worked on balancing budgets without ever sacrificing the quality of the institution’s artistic, educational, and social sides while also focusing on the future of the theater.

The Gran Teatre del Liceu recently opened its 2021-22 season with a production of “Ariadne auf Naxos” and is set to present Britten’s War Requiem later this month.
