Violin:

John Kennedy, England, 1790's

Preis: £3500 (negotiable)
A fine piece of English History. A fine violin made by John Kennedy, uncle of the famous maker Thomas Kennedy in the 1790's. It is labelled with hand written label John Kennedy, Bolton Street London, 1790 or 1794. Cant be precise due to the handwriting style. This was originally a Baroque violin and was mordeinised with a neck graft somwehre in its life. Also has marks on the varnish from a players beard before the chinrest was introduced. I have been told it's based on a Steiner model and has beutiful arching on the belly. A one piece back of highly flamed maple. A bright tone, and would benefit from a new set up and some TLC. Unfortunately i dont have any paper work to go with it was lost when moving house. I have had a couple of insurance valuations over the years from, Mosley Violins in Birmingham England, and Brisdgewood and Neitzhert in London. I have had this instrument since my studies in 1998 and am seeking a quick sale for a fair price. A sperb instrument ideal for a pro.
