The KLANGSPUREN INTERNATIONAL ENSEMBLE MODERN ACADEMY is an offshoot of the renowned International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) in Frankfurt. In 2015, in accordance with the main theme of the festival – Tunes & Tunings –, the masterful Austrian composer and conductor Beat Furrer will take up the role of Composer in Residence. Together with the Ensemble Modern teachers and the conductor Kasper de Roo he will rehearse a broad range of pieces during the academy which will be performed in various concerts at the Klangspuren Festival.

The Mahler Academy offers masterclasses with internationally renowned Teachers and professional musicians from Mahler Chamber Orchestra. The courses include individual lessons, chamber music in collaboration with the faculty, as well as an orchestra concert together with members of Mahler Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Daniel Harding.

The Modern Academy is an in-depth short course tailored to advanced students and young professionals, through an intensive study and collaboration with faculty and peers, to enhance their skills of performance and composition in modern music.
