1st Violins - Co-Leader (No.2) & Associate Leader (No.3)

The Orchestra of Opera North holds a unique place amongst British orchestras. Universally praised by audiences and critics alike, the orchestra is the only ensemble in the country to have a year-round dual role in the opera house and concert hall.
With headquarters in Leeds and deep roots across the community, we devise work to tour throughout the North of England, as well as nationally and internationally, and invest in dedicated educational partnerships throughout each season.
Acclaimed for its imaginative, eclectic programming and innovative mainstage productions, Opera North also programmes its own venue, the Howard Assembly Room with an enormous diversity of activity.
Committed to producing high-quality work that informs, excites, and entertains, The Orchestra of Opera North is seeking to appoint two experienced, dynamic, well-motivated and collaborative musicians to fill the positions of Co-leader and Associate Leader.
To apply for either or both roles please submit your recording and application via Musical Chairs by 10.59pm on Monday 28th October. Please see the documents below for more information on the audition process and the required extracts.
1st round - video submission with application, deadline 10.59pm on Monday 28th October
- 1st movement exposition from a Romantic Concerto & prepared extracts
2nd round - in-person audition, November-December, with a possibility to extend into January/February.
- 1st movement exposition from a Mozart Concerto & prepared extracts
Trials to take place from November onwards and to include a chamber round for Co-Leader candidates.
