Stella developed a highly distinguished career as a solo oboist, session, chamber music and orchestral musician and teacher. Former Students include Helen Powell, (English National Opera) as well as many who have pursued successful careers in the arts and science whilst continuing to enjoy high standards of musical participation through extra curricular activities. Until taking up a full time post as Head of Music and Art Therapy in a NHS Trust, Stella’s portfolio included regular orchestral engagements with the BBC Symphony Orchestra for recordings and televised Prom concerts, BBC Radio and BBC Concert Orchestras, the Orchestra of The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and many internationally acclaimed orchestras, including engagements with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra Norway, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, and the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra. She has always sustained her playing standard with regular concerts as second oboist with the New Queens Hall Orchestra for Chamber Music Concerts and teaching students from mainland Europe and the USA. Stella made a highly acclaimed CD recording’ Love’s Lore 16 British Folksongs for Oboe, Harp and Strings’ (ASV Label Universal Music), which received a four star review in The Independent. She has recorded numerous solo broadcasts for BBC Radio and published the first volume of music written for her by Paul Hart: ‘Star Pieces’for Oboe and Piano (Available at Forton music publications) ABRSM syllabus. Since completing doctoral studies she has devoted time to ensure that her reputation continues as a trusted,reliable, versatile principal and second oboe and Cor Anglaisplayer.
