Band played on as conductor Muhai Tang lost his trousers

A conductor proved his composure by continuing to lead an orchestra after his trousers fell down.

Muhai Tang was undeterred and hoisted up his trousers as the orchestra played on without missing a beat.

The incident took place at a performance by La Scala’s orchestra at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Tang, 70, is a Grammy-winning Chinese maestro who has worked with orchestras in Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, Finland and the US.

His belt malfunction revealed his boxer shorts. As he stooped to restore his modesty, a female violinist in the front row of the orchestra grinned and appeared to lean over to hide a fit of giggles behind her music
