6th International Franz Liszt Competition for Young Pianists

6th International Franz Liszt Competition for Young Pianists

26 Oct - 05 Nov, 2020

- Category I up to 13 years old
- Category II 14 - 17 years old

The competition, founded in 2005, aims to provide an international platform for highly talented young instrumentalists: In Weimar, the musicians are to meet at eye level, compare their performance levels and learn from each other.

For decades the competition's patron saint, Franz Liszt, lived and taught in Weimar (1848 to 1861 and 1869 to 1886). Every summer he gathered around him a select group of young pianists from all over the world, to whom he gave free master classes and unforgettable impulses. It has always been the endeavour of this great composer, pianist, conductor and visionary to provide the best possible training conditions for the next Generation.

Like its "big brother", the International FRANZ LISZT Piano Competition Weimar-Bayreuth, also held in Weimar, the Competition for Young Pianists feels committed to these ideals of Franz Liszt.
