Sheku Kanneh-Mason performs at the Baftas 2018 – and becomes first musician to perform at the awards twice

The brilliant young cellist took to the Royal Albert Hall stage to perform ‘Evening of Roses’ with four of his siblings at Sunday’s Bafta awards
Sheku became the first musician ever to be invited to perform at the Baftas twice when he gave an emotional rendition of ‘Evening of Roses. The young cellist shared a photograph of himself and his family on the red carpet outside the Royal Albert Hall, where this year's ceremony was held.

The piece, which features on his debut album ‘Inspiration’, is a Hebrew love song and is called ‘Erev Shel Shoshanim’ in the original Hebrew.
Sheku performed with five of his siblings during the ‘In Memoriam’ section of the awards, when the film and television world pays tribute to those who’ve died in the last 12 months.
Sheku previously performed at the Baftas in 2017, also during the ‘In Memorian’ section, when he played an arrangement of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ by Tom Hodge.
Hodge’s arrangement subsequently appeared in the Classic FM Hall of Fame, the world’s largest poll of classical music tastes.
