BBC National Orchestra of Wales to visit Patagonia

The BBC National Orchestra of Wales is to spend a week in Patagonia to mark 150 years since the first settlers arrived on board the Mimosa.

This will be the first time a full professional orchestra from Europe has performed in the province.

The residency will culminate with two gala concerts at the Predio Ferial in Trelew which is being given a new lease of life by the Government of Chubut.

Joining the orchestra for the concerts in October will be the National Youth Choir of Wales.

The building will also be home to the annual eisteddfod in Patagonia.

However, work to transform the old wool warehouse into the concert venue is still under way.

Orchestra director Michael Garvey explains more.
