Prix: £5,750

7th bass made by highly-regarded English craftsman John Bedingfield, built to order in late 1990, one owner. A 5 string, 40 stop bass including ebony fittings, edging protectors, ebony crown on the button and hardened steel endpin. Built for a cellist – bass easy to navigate, ideal for smaller hands.

DAMAGED by heat - part of the case’s inner lining embedded into the varnish, particularly on the back, several sections of significant damage.

Perfectly playable - leading repairer, T Martin & Son advises the instrument is entirely repairable (most likely a strip and re-varnish, potentially costing between £1,500 and £2,000).

Most Bedingfield’s seem to sell for between £9,000 and £12,000. Keen the instrument gets played - given damage I’d like to give the new owner complete control over the repair and how it is done, hence large discount.

Can include two bass bows, currently valued at £450 for £250 if required.

I live near Warwick, UK. Home or video viewings welcome
Certification: Original specification paperwork from John Bedingfield (correspondence between John and my parents) can be included or viewed as part of sale.
