16 1/2 viola made by Reinhold E. Schnabl in 1955 with the original certificate of purchase from William Moennig & Son of Philadelphia. Appraised value is $7500 minimum.

The back is of two-piece nicely marked maple with a medium curl which slopes gently down from the center. The sides are of the same handsome maple matching that of the back. The scroll is of maple also. The top is of two-piece selected spruce of medium broad graining. The varnish is a shaded golden orange-brown color over a golden base.
