Joseph Hornsteiner - Mittenwald, Germany - Early 19th Century
Prix: 20,000 AUD
This viola was made by Joseph Hornsteiner. The instrument is covered in a deep red-brown varnish. It is 38.5 cm in length - just over 15 inches. Although not a large viola, it does produce a sonorous warm tone that takes one back to eras of the past. The C string in particular is resonant and barrel like in sound. I believe this instrument would suit anyone who is passionate about playing the viola.
