A 18 th century Italian instrument bearing inside in the wood of the back the following handwriting : Pietro Casto 1789 Chia??
The internal building reveal an amatorial hand. The upper blocks at the C are as usual, but the lower blocks at the C and the lower central block are made in one piece togheter with the ribs.
Lower and central ribs are made in one piece only.
The scroll and neck have been later replaced.
The purfling of the back and top is made with small rhomboïde inlaids of two different wood having different colour.
The violin is actually open and I can send foto details of the inside also.
The varnish is red with a golden underground. The violin need restoration. It has not sound post crack in the back. Some work to be made at the top.
The sizes are correct.
Due to the necessary restauration , the violin is sold at a cheap and interesting price.
