Head of Keyboard

Permanent, Part-Time, Term Time, Support Staff Contract - 0.48 FTE

The Head of Keyboard will provide leadership and direction for keyboard teaching across Whitgift School, delivering high-quality individual piano tuition while supporting and managing a team of Visiting Music Teachers. The role will oversee pupil progress, examinations and performance opportunities, including concerts, auditions and School events, while ensuring pupils are encouraged to participate fully in the wider musical life of the School.

Working closely with the Director of Music and the wider Music Department, the successful candidate will promote excellence and participation in keyboard music through inspiring teaching, ensemble opportunities, masterclasses and outreach activities. They will also develop relationships with external professionals and feeder schools, support the identification of prospective music scholars, and oversee the tuning, maintenance and appropriate allocation of the School’s pianos.
