exploring best practice in music for young audiences

On 27th February 2020, MishMash Productions co-hosted, with Lakeside Arts, a one-day event exploring high quality and accessible music experiences for children, families and schools.

The event featured live performance from Vargkatten Produktion (Sweden) of Bach in the Street which won the Best Small Ensemble Award in YAMA 2018 (Young Audiences Music Awards).

Erin Coppens of award-winning ensemble Oorkaan (Netherlands) presented a keynote speech Music as The Starting Point.  Jesper Gottlieb, Live Music in Schools (Denmark), Emma Dreisprong, Zonzo Compagnie (Belgium) and Scott Rogers (Norway/USA) provided great examples of musician and audience engagement resulting from different creative processes and ways of working.

Workshop presentations:  Inclusivity, Diversity and Access presented by Chi-Chi Nwanoku of Chineke!, Ian Burton (Nottingham Music Hub), Liz Muge (MishMash Productions) and Stuart Bruce (Orchestras Live); and How Children Listen with Scott Rogers.
