ALEKSEY SEMENENKO - Master class for Violin

Each active participant will get two lessons with Aleksey Semenenko.

Ukrainian violinist Aleksey Semenenko is praised for performances replete with “verve, wit, delicatesse, and beautiful phrasing” (The Boston Musical Intelligencer). Since winning the 2012 Young Concert Artists Int. Auditions, Semenenko enjoys reputation as one of the leading violinists of his generation, and has since then made his debuts in New York at Merkin Hall, in Washington, DC at Kennedy Center, and in Boston at the Gardner Museum.
His further performances include his debuts at the Usedom Festival, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schlieswig-Holstein music festival, Schloss Elmau in Bavaria, Dubrovnik summer festival in Croatia, the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Bozar Hall in Brussels, the Louvre in Paris, as well as solo appearences with the Moscow Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony Orchestra and the Concertgebouw Orkest in Amsterdam.

In 2015 he became the 2nd prizewinner of the Queen Elisabeth Internation Competition in Brussels, as well as the 1st prizewinner at the Int. Boris Goldstein Competition in Bern. Furthermore, he was chosen for the audience prize at the prestigious Musical Olympus Festival in St.Petersburg in the same year and was chosen as Artist of the Month in the March edition of the Musical America Worldwide.

Born in Odessa, Mr. Semenenko began his violin studies at the age of six with Zoya Mertsalova (first teacher of Yuri Bashmet) at the Stolyarsky School, and only a year later performed Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in A Minor with the Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra. After completing his soloist diploma studies with with Zakhar Bron at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne, he continues to study chamber music there, with Harald Schoneweg. Mr. Semenenko plays a 1699 Antonio Stradivarius violin, loaned to him by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben fund of Hamburg, Germany.
