International String Competition

The prestigious Windsor Festival International String Competition, was inaugurated in 2008. The foremost of its kind in the world, this biennial competition seeks out the star performer of a generation, and launches the career of an exceptional violinist, violist or cellist.

Launched in memory of festival founder Yehudi Menuhin, reaching all corners of the globe, we encourage, nurture, support and enable prodigious talent to come to fruition. WFISC launches the winner’s professional career through a prize package bringing together in Windsor the world's most esteemed artists, Champs Hill Recordings, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Concerto Performances, recitals, management and instruments. Sharing knowledge and experience, we forge international connections for the future.

Not only that, but we bring live music to children. Giving thousands in Berkshire their first opportunity to hear close-up the world's best young musicians. Bringing these international super-stars to our local schools. Inspiring the next generation and opening their eyes to what can be possible. Creating pathways and networks across the globe.

The next competition will take place in Windsor in March 2024.
