HMDT Music, twice winner of the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Education and the 2020 Music and Drama Education Award for Music Theatre is a leader in developing inspiring arts projects, which support other areas of learning. Working with world class musicians and other leading artists, HMDT Music increases access to high quality musical experiences through new commissions, training and performance opportunities.

 

The Saturday Programme includes The Music Box family learning programme, Fledglings Foundation Course, I Can Sing! Music Theatre School, CYMH Instrumental School, Music Treehouse SEN/D project and the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy. HMDT Music’s work also includes creating cross-curricular school projects such as STEM Sisters a musical puppet show and project about historical STEM women, Trench Brothers, a First World War Primary School project commemorating the achievements and contributions made by ethnic minority forces, and Shadowball, a jazz opera celebrating black Baseball players of the 1930s-40s and their jazz compatriots. HMDT Music also runs TIME; a CPD project embedding the arts across the curriculum and One Spirit, a resettlement and mentoring programme for young offenders in prisons and upon release.
