Sound Minds Strings Teaching Artist (2023-24 School Year)
California Symphony is currently seeking a strings teacher (beginning and intermediate violin and cello) for the after-school Sound Minds program which operates at Downer Elementary School in San Pablo. This position is the second building block of a 5-level program. The teaching artist will be responsible for 5-8 hours per week on Mondays through Wednesdays, teaching group violin and cello classes consisting of approximately 10-15 students while collaborating with the full team of 4 teaching artists and school staff.

Highly qualified applicants are invited to apply by Monday, February 19, 2024. Incomplete submissions or submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.
For those applicants auditioning for Assistant Principal Cello, please indicate if you are willing to be considered for a vacant section position. In the event the Assistant Principal position is won by a current member of the California Symphony, their vacated section chair may be offered on a one-year basis to a qualified runner-up.

A refundable $50 deposit will be required of those invited to audition.
The California Symphony is a per service orchestra. The service rate for the 2023-24 season (2.5 hours) is $155; Assistant Principal Cello will receive an additional 15% per service. The minimum service guarantee for these positions is 20 services.
