Assistant Director of Recording and Music Technology

Tianjin Juilliard is looking for an experienced recording engineer who has a background in working with electronic equipment used in music performance. The Assistant Director of Recording and Music Technology should be familiar with the equipment involved in music recording, audiovisual production and live broadcasting, and will also provide audio and audiovisual technical support for all TJS courses.

Responsibilities:
• Serve as the key person for audiovisual recording of all concerts and studio productions of the Tianjin Juilliard School on or off campus
• Set up, test and adjust the music equipment for recording sessions and live performances
• Assist with live-streaming capabilities for concert broadcasting and long-distance learning purposes; function as a sound technician, photographer, videographer and light technician as needed
• Keep a detailed database of the entire school’s music equipment
• Assist in the development and production of various audio and video materials
• Archive all TJS recordings on or off campus and deliver the final productions
• Work closely with IT to maintain and upgrade software needed for recording as well as teaching
• Research and implement new music technology
• Provide audio and audiovisual technical support for courses

Minimum Requirements:
• An in-depth understanding of all primary audio and software including but not limited to; MAX MSP, Logic, Reason, Pro-Tools, and Live
• An in-depth understanding of all recording equipment and hardware used at Tianjin Juilliard
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in music recording and production including live events.

Preferred Background:
• Audio engineer for live events and recording sessions
• Producer/composer of electronic music
