The Philharmonic Society of Arlington proudly sponsors the Young Artist Competition for instrumental and vocal musicians under 30 years of age. This annual competition has been held since 1965. Our purposes are to grant promising young musicians with an opportunity to perform with our orchestra and/or chorale.
Our Young Artist Competition consists of two separate segments:
The Wood Competition, for musicians 18 years of age and under.
The Tannenwald Competition, for musicians 19-29 years of age.
Prizes:
Leonard D. Wood Competition:
1st prize: $500
2nd prize: $350
3rd prize: $150
Peter E. Tannenwald Competition:
1st prize: $1000 upon performing with a Philharmonic Society performing organization during its 2023-2024 season.
2nd prize: $650
3rd prize: $350
