A fine English cello by Forster circa 1780. Rich, powerful and full of character. Two piece front of medium grown spruce. Two piece back of plain maple, winged in the lower bass bout. The head and ribs of similar. Red-brown varnish over a warm ground. Back length 735mm/29"
