The School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at James Madison University seeks applications for the position of Director of the School of Music. The Director of the School of Music oversees all programs within the School and collaborates with the dean and faculty in the College of Visual and Performing Arts to promote the goals of the school, college, and university. The position is a twelve-month, tenured appointment which begins July 1, 2012, at the rank of Professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The School of Music is a highly engaged and active program with more than 400 undergraduate majors, 28 master's students, and 28 doctoral students. The unit has 46 full-time faculty, 30 professional staff and supportive adjunct positions, and produces more than 250 performances and presentations annually. The School of Music is an All-Steinway School and an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
