BBC puts Maida Vale studios on sale for 10.5m notes

Music fans see Maida Vale Studios as priceless for their role in the history of pop and classical music. The estate agent handling their sale has come up with a more pragmatic valuation of £10.5 million.

The site in northwest London is on the market after the BBC described it as “wholly unsuitable for the 21st century”. It first said in 2018 that it wanted to sell the studios, which have hosted the Beatles, Beyoncé and David Bowie, just among the Bs.

Nigel Godrich, Radiohead’s producer, said at the time: “Don’t destroy this beautiful studio. There are so few of these places left and this particular room is steeped in history.”

The release of a sales brochure last week prompted new consternation. Simon Harris, an
