Fine English Violin made by Richard Duke(senior) circa 1770

Fine old English violin made by Richard Duke (senior) circa 1790 branded, Duke London below the button. This violin is in excellent playing condition producing a fine warm mellow tone with good volume even on all strings. The original varnish is golden/amber in colour. The back measurement is 35.4 cms. Constructed with a narrow grain spruce top with a prominently flamed two piece maple back and ribs.Richard Duke was one of the finest English violin makers of this period working in London from 1750 - 1780.
