STEPHANIE DYER is a highly versatile classical, contemporary, jazz and early trombonist. Born and raised in South Wales, Stephanie read music at King’s College, Cambridge and later studied performance and research at the Royal Academy of Music, where she graduated with distinction and was Regent Fellow for 2015–16. Having worked frequently with world-renowned, virtuoso historic brass ensemble His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts since her first term at the Academy, she was delighted to accept the invitation to become a permanent member of the group in July 2016.
Stephanie enjoys a varied career encompassing classical and modern music alongside her work with HMSC. As a period instrumentalist she works with such distinguished ensembles as The Sixteen, The King’s Consort, The City Musick, Gabrieli Consort & Players, Classical Opera and, in 2017, Sir John Eliot Gardiner’s English Baroque Soloists. Equally at home in the theatre pit as on the concert platform and in the recording studio, Stephanie was the trombonist for the 2016–17 production of ‘She Loves Me’ at one of London’s off-West End theatres, the Menier Chocolate Factory. Other recent engagements have ranged from a UK tour of contemporary composer Charlie Barber’s The Fall of the House of Usher (Sound Affairs), twenty recitals for the acclaimed classical concert series for babies and toddlers ‘Bach to Baby’, to Musical Directing the 2014 Christmas show ‘Follow the Super Star’ (KICC Prayer City).
