This faculty position includes a 50% administrative role. This is a multi-year, renewable, non-tenure eligible position.&#13;
Entering its 30th year, the Institute for Music Leadership plays a central role in preparing musicians for sustainable, impactful careers. The faculty member in this role will provide strategic and artistic leadership for IML, oversee the Master’s program in Music Leadership, and support the development of innovative, industry‑connected and project‑based learning experiences that reflect today’s vibrant music profession.&#13;
Responsibilities include:&#13;

In partnership with the dean and other senior leaders, overseeing the academic and strategic direction of the Institute for Music Leadership&#13;
Coordinate and lead the Master’s degree in Music LeadershipMaintaining and building meaningful connections across a wide range of music industry sectors (nonprofit, commercial, creative industries, emerging fields)&#13;
Leveraging industry relationships to support experiential learning, internships, and professional opportunities for students&#13;
Teaching and mentoring students&#13;
Collaborating on fundraising, community partnerships, and external engagement&#13;
&#13;
Eastman welcomes applicants whose expertise has been developed primarily through professional practice, leadership, and innovation within the music industry, alongside or in place of traditional academic pathways.&#13;
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:&#13;
&#13;
Master’s degree required in music or a related field&#13;
Significant professional experience as a musician, innovator, and educator&#13;
Demonstrated leadership within artistic, educational, cultural, or music‑industry organizations, or leadership as an active independent artist.&#13;
Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills&#13;

This is a substantive artistic and educational leadership role, working closely alongside the CHIME Director and in ongoing artistic consultation with the ESYO Music Director.&#13;

The Associate Director conducts CHIME’s primary ensembles, mentors and supports Teaching Artists, and contributes to curriculum development and repertoire planning. This role is focused on musical leadership, pedagogical depth, and ensemble culture — program operations, school partnerships, and staff supervision rest with the CHIME Director.&#13;

We are specifically seeking candidates with strong experience in winds, brass, and/or percussion — as players, conductors, and educators. A background in public school band programs, Sistema-inspired settings, or community music organizations is highly valued.&#13;
