We anticipate being able to offer a minimum of 4 hours’ work on Saturdays, between 11am and 4pm (exact timings tbc), with the possibility of additional hours depending on experience, availability and wider programme needs.&#13;

The ideal candidate will have a degree in music, a teaching qualification and/or experience of teaching violin and/or viola to primary-aged children.  They will be a skilful and engaging teacher, confident working with young learners from the early stages of their musical development.  They will inspire a love of the instrument while helping students establish safe, secure technique and strong musical foundations from the outset.&#13;

Our music centre is based at Morley College, near London Waterloo, and teaching takes place on 10 Saturdays per term.&#13;

Position to begin February 1, 2027, or by the mutual agreement of the PSO and winning candidate, but no later than September 6, 2027. Pay for the 2026-27 Season is at minimum orchestra weekly scale of $2,345.15, and the annual Electronic Media Guarantee is $2,072.40. The PSO schedule has ten (10) collective vacation weeks for members each season, paid at the same rate as work weeks.&#13;
Any offer of full-time employment is contingent upon the successful completion of all background checks, as required by the Pittsburgh Symphony, Inc.&#13;
Musicians hired by the PSO are responsible for having and maintaining authorization to be employed in the United States of America, and to travel on international tours as a musician with the PSO. If one of the candidates wins the audition, and if it is the express will of the jury, an employment contract with an initial duration of one year will be offered, starting in October 2026 or as soon as possible. Before the end of this period, the jury will conduct a reassessment to evaluate the musician's continuity in the Orchestra.&#13;

Home to modern state-of-the-art facilities to provide the best possible educational environment for our pupils, the Music Department is at the heart of school life and consist of a number of buildings with recital/rehearsal halls and some twenty practice/teaching studios.  With nearly 700 instrumental lessons a week from a team of 50 specialist visiting music teachers, every student is given the opportunity to realise their musical potential.&#13;
We anticipate the need for up to one days’ teaching commencing September 2026 and are therefore inviting applications from experienced and dynamic self-employed violin teachers for whom this might be an exciting portfolio addition.&#13;
Applicants are expected to demonstrate a knowledge of varied and interesting repertoire and hold a diploma in violin performance and a degree at University or Conservatoire level. A knowledge of exam syllabi and proven teaching to advanced level is essential as well as a significant performance profile.&#13;

Employment Status&#13;
This position involves engaging with us as a self-employed visiting music teacher, providing specialist instrumental lessons, as and when required.&#13;
The College will engage you to provide teaching services upon its premises during the school day to College pupils only.&#13;
You will contract with and invoice the College for instrumental lessons delivered to music award holders.&#13;
