Price: US$2,000

This is a beautiful violin in excellent condition, light in color, carrying the label "Breton Breveté de S.A.R.Me." inside the body. It is a full-size instrument, the body measuring 36 cm (14 3/16 inches) over the arch in the back.

The back, ribs, and scroll are a light maple and the top spruce. There is an old repair, done with good craftsmanship, at the scroll. I have recently had the tailpiece replaced, the fingerboard planed, one open seam repaired, and the whole violin polished and cleaned. I will include the receipt for that work.

The year of origin is unknown. My family was told it was 150 years old when they bought it in Oslo, Norway, 1978 or 1979, but I've not been able to verify that. It's been in my possession since then but not used since 1982.
Certification: Written appraisal from August, 2018, by Amos Hargrave, luthier working out of Lawrence, KS, estimates the violin at a $3,000 replacement value.
