Mirecourt has been the centre of French violin making for centuries and the Jacquet family, as well as violins, violas and cellos, specialised in fine double basses made for both French players and for exports between approximately 1850 and 1900. They also made for other French dealers. Using traditional methods and fine woods these instruments can be found all around the world.

This specific double bass is in good condition with a dark varnish and original tuners. It has obviously been played a lot in its long life. Usually a sign of a good players' instrument. It is not labelled but it is possible that the maker signed the inner table as was often the way in France.

I have put a lot of money into fixing up and making this bass sound and play as well as possible. Its a great bass and I have enjoyed it massively, I'm only selling it because I travel too much at the moment.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thank you.
