The back in one piece of maple cut between the quarter and the slab and with medium width figure running more or less horizontally; the sides and scroll of similar wood; the table in two pieces of spruce with medium grain at the centre, broadening slightly towards the flanks; the varnish of a brown- orange colour on a lighter ground. This viola is a fine and characteristic example of the makers'work.
