Gold-mounted Violin Bow by Jean-Jacques Millant, Paris c.1970.

This is a very fine bow. Cousin of Bernard Millant, J.J. Millant was considered one of the best French makers of the late 20th century, if not the best. His bows are very closely modelled on those of Dominic Peccatte, and it’s been said they are the nearest thing to that great masters’ work. This bow is incredibly smooth, yet lively, and draws a sparkling sound.

In good condition these bows fetch £15-20k in the shops, but this one is priced to reflect a couple of condition issues which I’m happy to discuss. A chance to play on a top French bow at a knock-down price!
