Description of Violin:
A violin of Austro-Hungarian origin from the Mid-18th Century. The top is of two pieces of quartered spruce of fine grain. The one-piece back is of highly figured maple with the figure inclining slightly downward from the treble side. The sides and scroll are of similar maple. The varnish is a reddish-brown over a golden ground. This powerful instrument projects boldly and is in a very good state of preservation.
This violin has a current replacement value of $8 500.
