Part-Time Piano Faculty, Pre-College

(Part-time)
The Tianjin Juilliard pre-college program welcomed its inaugural class of students in Fall 2019. The pre-college offers a Saturday program of classical music training for students 8-18 who exhibit the talent, potential and ambition to pursue serious music study. Students will take one-hour lessons on their major instrument as well as classes in music theory, ear training and English language. Admission to the program is based on competitive audition to identify students with the potential to develop elite-level technical proficiency while fostering creativity and intellectual curiosity.

Responsibilities:
• Teach applied lessons to pre-college pianists
• Hold studio classes
• Coach pre-college chamber music groups as needed
• Actively recruit pre-college students

Qualifications:
• Fluency in Mandarin and English
• Experience teaching piano to highly talented Middle School and High School-age students
• Professional experience performing and coaching chamber music
• Experience teaching or studying in an American or European music school is preferable. Openness to western ideas about music education is essential.
• Availability on Saturdays from September through May

Start Date:
Pre-college instruction will begin in August 2020. The successful applicant may need to be available to review applicant pre-screening videos and possibly travel within China for live auditions during the winter and spring of 2020.
