ROLE of the POSITION
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, School of Music invites applications for a full time, tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor of Music in Applied Clarinet to begin Fall 2023.
Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate studio clarinet, coaching chamber music, recruitment, performing chamber music in faculty ensembles, and serving as a visible resource to the music and music education community. The successful candidate will be expected to be involved in research and/or creative activity appropriate for a major research institution to establish or enhance a national and international reputation. Additional duties will include advising students at the graduate and undergraduate level, and other courses related to the candidate’s expertise and needs of the school, service to the School of Music and University, and active engagement in the musical culture of the University.
PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT/COLLEGE
UNLV’s School of Music includes more than 400 students and 37 full-time faculty, offering BA, BM, MM, and DMA degrees, as well as an Artist Diploma, in the fields of performance, composition, music education, musicology, jazz and commercial music, and music technology. Each year, students and faculty present more than 150 concerts, recitals, and staged performances, featuring 30 student ensembles specializing in a wide variety of genres and styles. UNLV sits in the top spot in U.S. News & World Report’s annual listing of the nation’s most diverse universities for undergraduates. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Doctoral or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Ed.
