AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT Orchestral Musician – Double Bass (Tutti)

State Opera – Plovdiv announces an audition for a full-time orchestral position for Double Bass (Tutti).

Candidate Requirements: • Completed higher or secondary music education. • Experience and proficiency in ensemble performance.

Audition Date and Venue: June 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM Chamber Hall, House of Culture "Boris Hristov" Plovdiv, Center, ul. "Gladston" 15, 4000

Audition Repertoire:

A solo piece of the candidate’s choice (with or without accompaniment).

A concerto selection (choose one):

Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf – Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra in E major (choose either the 1st movement with cadenza or the 2nd and 3rd movements)

Giovanni Bottesini – Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra No. 2 in B minor

Serge Koussevitzky – Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra in E minor (perform either the 1st movement and 2nd, or the 2nd and 3rd movements)

Orchestral Excerpts:

Mozart – The Marriage of Figaro, Overture

Verdi – La forza del destino, Overture

Beethoven – Symphony No. 5, 3rd Movement

Beethoven – Symphony No. 9, 4th Movement

Shostakovich – Symphony No. 5, 1st Movement

Verdi – Rigoletto, Grand Number 3

Mahler – Symphony No. 1, 3rd Movement
