As principal viola, you are an outstanding musician with leadership qualities, your own distinctive sound, strong technical skills, and a keen sense of ensemble playing. You actively contribute to realizing the artistic ambitions of the orchestra and feel at home in an environment where creativity, versatility, and excellence come together.
Required repertoire:
First round:
Carl Philipp Stamitz: Concert for viola in D, first part until the cadence
or
Rebecca Clarke: Sonata for viola and piano bar 1 - 37
Second round:
Béla Bartók: Concerto for Viola and Orchestra (Serly)1st part until cadence
For the audition, invitations will be issued solely in accordance with regulations to:
• Dutch musicians;
• Foreign musicians from within the EEA (all EU countries, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein) or Switzerland;
• Musicians from outside the EEA and Switzerland who are resident in the Netherlands and are in possession of a statement stating “work freely permitted” or a valid residence permit.
The selection consists of:
• Preselection based on the submitted application and a video recording of a piece of your choice (maximum 2 minutes)
• An audition with two rounds (the first behind a screen);
• A trial period in Metropole Orkest productions;
• An interview regarding employment conditions.
Employment conditions:
Initial appointment for 12 months, with the prospect of a permanent position following interim evaluations. Salary is in accordance with the collective labor agreement (CAO) of the Metropole Orkest Foundation.
