Expressions of Interest - Associate Principal Viola

The Opera Australia Orchestra is a specialist opera and ballet orchestra established in 1967. Resident at the Sydney Opera House, the orchestra performs a wide range of opera, ballet and music theatre, collaborating closely with singers, conductors and dancers to shape each performance in the moment.

Expressions of Interest - We are seeking expressions of interest for the permanent position of Associate Principal Viola.

Remuneration - Package starting from A$124,365 per annum

This is comprised of a salary ranging from A$108,995-$131,702 plus 12% superannuation, and relevant allowances. The orchestra has 4 weeks of annual leave each year

Eligibility - This position is open to applicants of all nationalities

3. submit an audio-visual recording of the required concerto and excerpts

EOI Process - Submissions will be reviewed by the panel after the closing date and a small number of applicants may be invited to Sydney to undertake a pre-trial. The pre-trial comprises approximately three weeks rehearsing and performing one opera and a 30-minute recital.


Recorded submission requirements - Applicants must prepare and submit one concerto and three excerpts:

Choice of either - with piano accompaniment
1. Stamitz Concerto in D, Op.1 or Hoffmeister Concerto in D – exposition and development (no cadenza)
