Visiting Assistant Professor of Viola

The University of Iowa School of Music seeks a collaborative colleague to complement the string area at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of Viola, beginning in the fall of 2026. This is a full-time, one-year position, renewable up to three years pending positive reviews and budgetary approval.

The School of Music provides conservatory-like instruction at a Big 10 research institution, offering graduate and/or undergraduate degrees in composition, conducting, jazz studies, music education, music theory, music therapy, musicology, and performance. The School enrolls approximately 450 majors and has more than 50 full-time faculty members, situated in the Voxman Music Building, a state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2016 in downtown Iowa City.

Featuring a college-town atmosphere with big-city cultural richness, the Iowa City area has something for everyone including Big 10 sports and world-class music, literature, dance, and theater.

Duties: Teaching studio viola to graduate and undergraduate students; other duties as per the needs of the School of Music.

Start Date: August 19, 2026
