Opera repetiteur

The Academy of Opera is responsible for carrying out training, public outreach and both artistic and academic research within the field of opera. There is currently a vacancy at the academy for a full-time position (1.0 FTE), for a fixed term of four years, as an assistant professor in opera rehearsal.

We are seeking a pianist/opera repetiteur with extensive practical experience from an opera house, opera studio, opera academy or an opera department at a music academy. You will be expected to help raise the profile of the department’s professional activities both in Norway and abroad.

In addition, you will be expected to keep up to date within the field and to strive for professional development. The position does not include artistic research, but upon agreement with the dean, time may be set aside to develop your professional skills.

Your tasks will include the following:

Providing musical accompaniment at singing lessons, rehearsals, master classes, performances and concerts
Individual tutoring and supervision of students
The instruction takes place in Norwegian (or Swedish or Danish) and English. The immediate academic supervisor is Professor Olesya Tutova. The position is overseen by the dean, Anna Einarsson, who is both academically and administratively responsible for the department’s operations.
You will be expected to participate in the department’s strategic development and help ensure that the department’s overall resources are used flexibly.

You must document the following:

Higher degree exam or equivalent in a relevant discipline
Educational competence (cf. section 3.8 of the Regulations concerning the Universities and University Colleges Act)
The applicant must be proficient in English and Norwegian/another Scandinavian language, both spoken and written, or be willing to acquire this proficiency shortly after assuming the position
Relevant professional or teaching experience
