Head of Instrumental Studies

(Vollzeit)
(£33,131 - £61,355 p/year)
We are seeking a committed and inspirational Head of Instrumental Studies to join our large and vibrant Music Department at this flourishing co-educational boarding and day school.

Music is central to school life here. With over 50 concerts per year, more than 25 music award holders, hundreds of individual lessons taught weekly, and an ambitious programme of performances ranging from Chapel choral concerts to major Gala Concerts at venues across the country, this is a department with genuine momentum and ambition.

The Role

Working closely with the Director of Music, you will take shared responsibility for the co-curricular life of the department, with a particular focus on directing the Big Band and Concert Band and leading the school's jazz and wind ensemble provision. You will also line-manage and support our team of Visiting Music Teachers, ensuring instrumental tuition across all levels is of the highest quality.

This role suits someone who combines a genuine love of performing and directing ensembles with strong organisational and interpersonal skills. Experience of staff management is desirable, and excellent communication will be essential in working with pupils, parents, and external partners.

What We're Looking For
• A passion for music education across all levels and abilities
• Experience directing ensembles, ideally including jazz or wind
• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• A positive, collaborative approach to working within a team
