IV. Tallér Zsófia Int'l Contemporary Composition Competition
13 Nov 2025 - 01 Mar 2026
The Zsófia Tallér International Composer Competition returns in 2026, honoring the legacy of Zsófia Tallér, an Erkel, Bartók–Pásztory, and Artisjus Award-winning composer and professor.
This fourth edition invites composers under the age of 35 to create an original 3–5 minute work for voice and piano, inspired by Tallér’s chamber cantata Anyuska régi képe (“Mother’s Old Photograph”). Participants may draw on the atmosphere and themes of the piece, but no musical or textual material may be used or quoted from the original.
Works may be in Hungarian, English, Latin, German, or Italian. Scores must be submitted anonymously in PDF format, together with an MP3 recording (MIDI or live performance).
The winner will receive €1000, and the winning work will be performed at the Bartók Spring Festival gala concert.
In addition, the piece will be the recommended work for the 2026 Debrecen Contemporary Vocal Competition in memory of Emil Petrovics.
