International Conducting Masterclass 2027 in Japan

The Japanese-German Philharmonic Society has presented its conducting masterclass since 1996. Today, conductors and students from Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Oceania join participants from Japan—drawn not by advertising, but by what they discover when they search.
What they discover is a nine-day intensive course with the Symphonische Akademie, a full professional orchestra that responds immediately and precisely to every gesture. When an orchestra plays exactly what you conduct, you learn things no student ensemble can teach. You quickly discover what you truly know.
The 2027 program includes works by Haydn, Stravinsky, Wagner, R. Strauss, and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 8. Participants may choose between ensemble sessions, full-orchestra sessions, or the complete nine-day course.
The course is led by Naoki Sugiyama, a student of Herbert Kegel and Kurt Redel, two distinguished figures of the German conducting tradition. Iesson is offered in Japanese, English and German.
