For this role, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra is unable to accept applications from candidates who are not already eligible to work in the UK. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct documentation, including a work permit before applying. A copy of your visa/work permit may be requested on receipt of your application.

To act as Tutti Cello in the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, stepping up as required.

1st Round
We ask that you submit a video for the 1st round
Any movement from one of the Bach Cello Suites
The music for the orchestral excerpts is supplied in the audition pack. Tips/Guidance on how to record the video are available for download on our Musical Chairs advert. We would like to advise candidates that a basic smart phone recording is sufficient to determine whether the panel would like to invite you to audition in person. The panel will only hear the audio to keep the process anonymous.

2nd Round
For those who are successful in the online submission stage and will progress to the 2nd round live auditions; we are looking to hold the next round of screened, in-person auditions (with accompanist), at City Halls, 87 – 101 Albion Street Glasgow early in 2026.
